[Alex spent most of the ride back from China kept sequestered away from everybody else by Galaxy-Eyes. The Electron Dragon form faded quickly into a smaller, ghostly (but still solid) dragon apparition, but it still growled angrily and threateningly at anybody who got close to Alex. Then, when they got back to Academy, it picked her up and took her out of the ship without a word to anybody.

If Yuma checks the spot where Alex was, he'll find four Numbers: Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder, Number 40: Gimmick Puppet of Strings, Number 45: Cyber Gogiga and Number 71: Master of Shadow Clones.

As for Alex and Galaxy-Eyes, they're on the beach at Duel Academy, a distance away from the ship, talking to each other.]

*After seeing Alex's message, Yuma finds the Numbers on the airship. He looks at them, before leaving the ship to go and search for Alex, wondering if she was still on the island.
Eventually, he finds her and Galaxy-Eyes at the beach. Holding the Numbers in his hand, the approaches them and speaks when he's close to them.*

You... left me your Numbers? Are you sure about this?

[Both Alex and Galaxy-Eyes look pretty weak, which is probably the only reason they haven't already left yet. Galaxy-Eyes looks warily at Yuma, but doesn't growl at him. Alex just looks exhausted.]

... ...no point in me keeping them.

But... why?

*He takes another few steps forward, a little more apprehensively this time, noticing Galaxy-Eyes watching him.*

I'd just lose them.

*With a sigh, Yuma sits down near to them.*

If this is about what happened today, you did the best you could!

[Galaxy-Eyes initially looks wary, but doesn't stop Yuma from sitting down. Eventually, one of her wings covers him the same way the other's covered Alex, to keep him warm.]

That's the point.

My best sucks.

*Yuma allows Galaxy-Eyes to put her wing around him.*

Man, Labrys was crazy strong! Any one of us would of struggled against her!
A loss doesn't mean that you suck. It just means there was something to learn, that you need to use to become stronger.

What about when I stunk it up against the Numeral Hunter.

Again, he was super strong!
If you feel there's something not working right, then it's like I said! You use things like that to work out what's not working and become stronger!

You can't let things like that make you give up.

Why not, giving up is what I usually do. The last time I gave up, I reconciled with my parents, revitalized my career and had like, tons of sex with my girlfriend.

Giving up is kinda the only thing I'm good at.

*Yuma goes a kinda wide-eyed and blushes at the last part there. He looks away awkwardly, rubbing his head.*

A-aaah, well...! Y'know! Sometimes good things come out of bad things and all, but good things can come out of good things too and what I'm saying is to not give up on the good thing because right now it's a bad thing because it can become a good thing and ... !!

*Seems like he's rambling. Hilariously rambling.*

*Yuma laughs sheepishly and waves his arms about frantically.*

*He continues laughing for a moment, before he takes a deep breath in order to calm himself down, before continuing.*

What I'm saying is, you shouldn't give up on something just because some people made you feel sucky at it, because that means that the people who made you feel like that win.
If I'd listened to everyone who told me I sucked at dueling, or if I let every loss get to me, I would of quit dueling a long time ago, but I didn't, because I love dueling, even back when I lost all the time!
If you give up on something like this, then you give up on a part of yourself!

[Alex looks away, rubbing her arms. She feels bad, for a lot of reasons - for how down on herself she's feeling, for making Yuma feel like he has to encourage her like this. For how Galaxy-Eyes must feel, seeing her like this. It all compounds with how bad she feels for losing and she pulls her legs up, wrapping her arms around them. She takes in a couple unsteady breaths through her nose. She really doesn't wanna think about this right now.]

...

[She turns her head towards Yuma and squints a little.]

Have you done it with birdhair yet?

[So, she opts to change the subject completely.]

I mean, I call her every week and tell her about what I've been doing at the Academy and who I've dueled and stuff and she tells me what she's been doing, but we've always done that!

[Alex looks back out at the water. She feels a little bad for doing that, but she also is glad they're not talking about her anymore.]

*Yuma stays silent for a while, mostly recollecting his thoughts as he also looks out to the ocean. Thankfully, the calm waves help him feel a little calmer, and once he does he speaks up again.*

Kotori and I haven't really had much of a chance to be together as a couple yet. We've only had one date and that kinda got sidelined for something else that happened during it.

I think we still have a lot more to explore together where we are right now and sometimes you kinda have to explore at your own pace, cos then you wouldn't miss the chance to appreciate all the really small, but amazing things that are around you.

We're gonna have our second date during the holidays when I visit home and y'know, we'll probably go to the fairground or something, eats loads of sweet things and go on rides and stuff and then maybe afterwards we'll have hot cocoa and watch a movie or something.
And I know that's something she'll really enjoy.
